Marrakech Tourism Slowly Rebounds as COVID Restrictions Ease

A few days after the resumption of activities, tourism still seems to be recovering in Marrakech. The assessment of the reopening of borders remains mixed in this sector, particularly due to the persistent health restrictions. However, professionals hope for a return to normal with the arrival of Eid Al-Adha.
The ochre city is welcoming more and more tourists since the reopening, in mid-June, of air borders and the resumption of international flights, in accordance with the royal instructions to facilitate their arrival, reports TelQuel.
But the influx is not yet at its peak, according to tourism professionals. Hotels, museums, shops, and restaurants are still waiting to do good business as in the past, the same source points out.
"We have many signs that reflect the transition that is currently taking place and that will be achieved in a progressive manner," analyzes Laila Boujir, director of sales and marketing operations at the Oberoi hotel, who adds that the restrictions continue to curb the development of tourism at the national level. And yet "We have applied an average of 30% promotions on our offers to our national and international customers," she says.
The manager says the city is awaiting its traditional customers who often come from France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, not to mention those from the United States, for whom the conditions of access to the territory are much more flexible.
