Marrakech Tops Summer 2024 Travel Searches from Lyon Airport, Kayak Reports

This summer, Lyon travelers are looking for sunny destinations, while those in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region are searching for Mediterranean destinations. Marrakech thus tops the top 10 most searched destinations for the summer on kayak.fr, a travel search engine, from Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport. The ochre city is followed by Palma (Spain), Lisbon (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain) and Bangkok (Thailand). Then come Luqa (Malta), Porto (Portugal) and Athens (Greece). Ajaccio (France) takes 9th place. Denpasar (Indonesia) completes the top 10.

Kayak advises travelers to wait until the end of the summer, especially the beginning of September, to make savings, with very interesting round-trip flights, around 171 €, being put on sale. "However, avoid the end of July and the beginning of August. This is the period when summer attendance is highest and airline ticket prices are highest," warns the travel search engine.

To compile its ranking, Kayak based itself on flight searches made on its site from IP addresses identified, in the period between 03-01-2024 and 06-12-2024 for flights departing between 06-01-2024 and 08-31-2024 from any French airport. The site also took into account all prices, which are average prices for economy class round-trip tickets.
