Marrakech Tops List of Moroccan Cities with Highest Corruption Cases, Report Finds

The city of Marrakech is the city most affected by corruption in 2018, while Béni-Mellal only has two cases, according to a recent report from the public prosecutor’s office.
The recent report on the implementation of the criminal policy and the management of the public prosecutor’s office revealed the cases of corruption recorded in the public administration.
This report from the public prosecutor’s office also established a ranking of the cities affected by the cases of corruption reported by telephone. At the top of the least virtuous cities, the Marrakech-Safi region has 15 cases on the counter. It is followed by the city of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (11 cases), Fès-Meknès (10 cases), Casablanca-Settat and Souss-Massa with 8 cases each. As for the city of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, it has experienced 7 cases. The most upright cities are the Oriental and Béni Mellal-Khénifra, with only two cases each.
Furthermore, Morocco, ranked 81st out of 180 countries in 2017, now occupies the 73rd place in 2018, according to the NGO Transparency International.
It should be noted that a National Anti-Corruption Commission, provided for in the 2011 Constitution, with well-defined powers, had been created in October 2017. Its members have rarely met, it is specified.
