Marrakech Tops French Travel Trends for September, Booking.com Reports

According to the Booking ranking, the city of Marrakech is the most popular destination for the French in September. The choice of many French people to visit the ochre city in September is explained by its easy access from the Hexagon. In less than three hours of direct flight, the French can reach the Moroccan city for barely 30 euros.

In addition to its warm temperatures, Marrakech is appreciated for its medina, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985, and its historic monuments such as the Koutoubia Mosque. "The authenticity of the internal urban structure and monuments has remained intact," comments UNESCO on its website.

In Marrakech, French tourists can also have a great time in the Majorelle Garden, which welcomes an average of 600,000 visitors each year, or in the souks of the medina where more than 2,600 Moroccan craftsmen offer items such as jewelry, teapots, leather goods.

The city of Barcelona in Spain comes in second place among the cities preferred by the French in September. It is followed by Lisbon in Portugal, Palma de Mallorca in Spain and Rome in Italy.
