Marrakech Tops French Summer Travel Destinations for Third Year

According to the ranking of a travel search engine, Marrakech remains the preferred destination of the French. Many of them went there to enjoy the sun and have a pleasant time.
Many French people went on vacation this summer. According to a first assessment of the summer made by the comparator Liligo, Marrakech and Tunis were the destinations most sought after by the French who had expressed their desire to go to Africa during this season. The ochre city has for the third consecutive year dominated the ranking of the most sought-after destinations this summer, thus maintaining its leading position. The Moroccan city was accessible to the French with a round-trip ticket for one person at 288 € per person, i.e. -8% compared to last year and -10% compared to 2022. As for the Tunisian city, it was accessible at an average of 358 €.
Lisbon takes third place. The Portuguese capital displayed a price of 211 €. Montreal and Ajaccio lose a few places. These two cities occupy 5th and 6th place respectively. The Canadian city was accessible to the French with an average round-trip ticket at a price of 617 € (-15% vs. 2023 and -9% vs. 2022) per person, while Ajaccio displayed 263 €, i.e. +23% compared to 2023 and +41% compared to 2022.
"If the French were less numerous to travel this summer, their budget increased. Travelers are primarily heading to destinations easily accessible from mainland France. It is still a great season for Europe which continues to dominate the ranking in number. The declines in some destinations are really impressive. -9% on average for the summer of 2024 compared to 2023 is a significant price drop given the current economic context of households," comments Guillaume Rostand, spokesperson for Liligo. And to add: "Paradoxically, French destinations have seen their prices increase by plane. These price increases may be due to the Olympics, nevertheless, for the same destinations, the train remains very accessible at this time, except for Corsica."
