Marrakech Tops French Summer Travel Destinations Despite Price Increase

A Moroccan city retains its first place in the ranking of the most popular summer destinations for the French, drawn up by a travel search engine.
Marrakech ranks for the 2nd consecutive year at the top of the ranking of the summer destinations most sought after by the French, drawn up by the travel search engine Liligo, with a round trip on average at 308 € per passenger, i.e. +10% compared to last year and -13% compared to the pre-Covid period. The ochre city is followed by Lisbon and Porto, two Portuguese destinations that climb to 2nd and 3rd place in the ranking, respectively, for the second consecutive year, with a round trip on average at 244 € per passenger from France for Lisbon and 215 € for Porto, reports Air Journal.
Spain also dominates the ranking with two destinations, Barcelona (4th) and Palma de Mallorca (9th), accessible at reasonable prices with round-trip flights ranging between 145 € and 228 € per person from France. Montreal, the only Canadian destination, occupies the 5th place in the ranking, with a round trip on average at 833 € per passenger. French tourists also preferred to spend the summer holidays in French cities, Ajaccio (278 €), Pointe-à-Pitre (1,100 €), in the Overseas Territories, and Nice (149 €) which are respectively in 6th, 7th and 8th place. Istanbul completes the top 10, with a round trip on average at 463 € per passenger.
For Guillaume Rostand, spokesperson for Liligo, it is not surprising that the three favorite destinations of the French for this summer coincide exactly with those of last summer. "The French really do want to travel and are primarily heading to destinations that are easily accessible from mainland France. It is still a great season for Europe, which continues to dominate the ranking in number, although prices are somewhat higher than last summer," he adds.
