Marrakech occupies the 6th position in the top 10 of the destinations most sought after by the French for the summer holidays, established by the flight price comparator, Kayak. The ochre city is on a strong upward trend, with a 104% increase in flight searches. Bali (Indonesia) tops the ranking, with flight searches up 67% year-on-year. The Indonesian island is followed by Montreal (+41%) and Bangkok, whose searches have more than doubled between 2022 and 2023 (+138%). Then come Palma de Mallorca (Spain) which ranks fourth (+ 55%) and New York (+21%). Lisbon (+31%), Saint-Denis (+34%), Ajaccio, in Corsica (+43%) and Tokyo (+256%) complete the top 10.
Kayak’s ranking is focused on searches for air travel only. The comparator notes that the French have favored distant destinations in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. They also show a desire to make up for lost time during the lockdowns related to the Covid-19 crisis. This is a "revenge travel" trend. Result: flight searches have increased by 46% compared to last year. As for hotel searches, the increase is 59%.
