Marrakech Shoppers Outraged as Malls Introduce Parking Fees

Several shopping centers in the city of Marrakech have decided to charge their customers for parking. This measure, denounced by a collective of citizens, calls for the intervention of the authorities.
These commercial centers in the ochre city are in the sights of the Moroccan consumer protection association. It denounces the implementation of "this tax" in case the parking of their customers exceeds 90 minutes.
In a press release, the Association accused these centers of not respecting the specifications concerning their creation and management and of obscuring the consumer’s economic rights as stipulated by organic law No. 31.08 setting the measures for the protection of his rights.
As a result, the collective has invited the managers of these centers to put an end to this measure and, in case of refusal, to the authorities to compel them to do so. Meanwhile, the members of the association have called for a boycott of these centers, insisting on the free parking of cars and two-wheelers, in accordance with the law.
