Fez Eliminates Controversial Car Guard System After Public Outcry

The city of Fez has managed to put an end to the activities of car guards following numerous complaints from residents.
No more car guards in Fez. Drivers can now park freely in the city’s parking lots without fear of being verbally assaulted by the car guards. Taking to heart the many complaints from residents, the city authorities have put an end to the activity of car guards.
The issue had been the subject of debates in the House of Representatives after citizens organized a boycott movement of car guards on social networks. They accused them of setting the price of their service at their convenience, depending on the parking area, sometimes demanding payment in advance, and of insulting and threatening their clients.
The discontent persisted to the point that the Ministry of the Interior had to react. "The operation of the vehicle parking service falls within the framework of the temporary occupation of the public domain governed by a set of legislative and regulatory texts," it had clarified.
