Marrakech Restaurant Owners Demand Crackdown on Illegal Quad Tours Amid Health Concerns

Faced with the anarchy of quad owners who organize dinners and shows in the Palmeraie of Marrakech, without authorization and in violation of hygiene standards, restaurant and complex owners are calling on the regional authorities to take action to avoid new cases of food poisoning.
Restaurant owners are urging Farid Chourak, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, to urgently take measures to put an end to the chaos caused by quad and buggy owners in the palm grove. Without obtaining a license and in violation of ONSSA’s hygiene and monitoring standards, the latter offer their guests dishes prepared under unsanitary conditions, denounced the restaurant owners.
Such practices constitute a danger to the health and safety of tourists, the restaurant owners have warned, calling on the Wali of the region to send a commission on site to note these shortcomings. This alert comes after cases of food poisoning recorded in recent weeks in some fast-food restaurants and restaurants in the ochre city, which cost the lives of six people.
