Deadly Food Poisoning Outbreak Sparks Fear in Marrakech, Residents Avoid Fast Food

The food poisoning cases recorded in recent weeks that have caused the death of six people in Marrakech have raised concerns and fear among the population of the ochre city, who have greatly reduced their visits to fast-food restaurants.
The people of Marrakech were seized with panic after the announcement of several cases of food poisoning in certain fast-food restaurants and restaurants in the city that were serving spoiled food to their customers. Since the incident at the Mhamid Snack, which cost the lives of six people, the inhabitants of the ochre city have been avoiding these establishments.
To prevent the occurrence of new cases of food poisoning, many Marrakechis are calling on the competent authorities to take firm measures to protect the health of consumers, in particular to strengthen controls in restaurants and snack bars in order to guarantee the quality of the food served.
The inhabitants of the ochre city also urge the authorities to ensure that these establishments comply with hygiene and safety standards, to initiate training sessions for their owners on food preservation methods, and to toughen sanctions against offenders, which can go as far as revoking the health license.
