Marrakech Police Bust Gang Targeting Foreign Tourists in Violent Robberies
No more violent thefts against tourists, especially foreigners, in Marrakech! The police have put an end to the activities of a gang of criminals who roamed the city on motorcycles, not hesitating to use bladed weapons to rob their victims.
In total, 15 individuals, 14 of whom were already known to the police, were arrested. Six of them were caught in the act of theft on Sunday evening. The other members of the gang were identified and arrested following the investigation.
The gang was active in tourist areas, such as the Hivernage district. Taking advantage of the crowds and the influx, the criminals stole bags, jewelry and other valuables from visitors.
All the suspects were taken into custody and will have to answer for their actions before the justice system. This hard-hitting operation comes after several theft cases specifically targeting foreigners visiting the ochre city.
