Marrakech Plans Tourism Revival with Integrated Travel Services

Heavily impacted by the global health crisis, Marrakech, a tourist city par excellence, is preparing to relaunch its activities. An integrated and complementary tourist product will soon be put in place at the request of the associations and representative bodies of the car rental sector.

This meeting, devoted to examining the measures to be implemented to mitigate the socio-economic repercussions of the crisis, took place on Monday in Marrakech. It was held between the Marrakech Municipal Council and the associations and representative bodies of the car rental sector, reports La Map.

During the meeting, the participants wished that this product also take into account hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, car rental agencies as well as other tourist services. In doing so, it could allow the implementation of an "attractive" and "incentive" offer for both domestic and foreign tourists.

For the professionals in the car rental sector, "the first obstacles they face relate to the surcharges related to the delay in the repayment of bank loans, the social security contributions of the CNSS as well as the taxes and duties for 2020". These professionals have also recommended the use of local car rental companies when awarding contracts, in order to ensure their better integration into the economic dynamics of the region. They also spoke in favor of the organization, on a daily and permanent basis, of disinfection and sterilization campaigns for the fleet.

In response to the expectations and aspirations expressed by the professionals, the President of the Marrakech Municipal Council, Mohamed Larbi Belcaid, appreciated the proactive measures adopted by Morocco to curb the spread of the coronavirus. He also stressed the need to pool efforts for better coordination of all in order to overcome this crisis and mitigate its socio-economic repercussions.
