Marrakech Named Among World’s Top 100 Urban Destinations for 2023

A Moroccan city is among the top 100 best urban destinations in the world. Mecca and Cairo are also present in the ranking.
Marrakech ranks 91st, behind Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) in the ranking of the 100 best urban destinations in the world for 2023, compiled by Euromonitor International. Visitors can explore a series of sites in the ochre city. These include the former home of Yves Saint-Laurent, the MAP Marrakech museum, which houses more than 30,000 jewels from around the world, and the grand hotels Royal Mansour and El Fenn. The ochre city outperforms Vilnius (Lithuania), Mugla (Turkey), Zhuhai (China) and Mecca (Saudi Arabia).
Paris remains the world’s top urban destination. It is followed by Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Madrid (Spain), Tokyo (Japan) and Amsterdam (Netherlands). Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) takes 96th place. Guilin (China), Hanoi (Vietnam), Cairo (Egypt) and Muscat (Oman) complete the top 100.
The 2023 Euromonitor Index of the 100 Best Urban Destinations evaluates 55 indicators across six key pillars. These pillars are: Economic and Business Performance, Tourism Performance, Tourism Infrastructure, Tourism Policy and Appeal, Health and Safety, and Sustainability.
