Marrakech Ranks Among Top Cities for British Travelers in 2023 Google Searches

Morocco is among the most sought-after destinations by the British. A Moroccan city is also ranked in the top 5 of the most popular cities.
Morocco completes the top 10 of the most sought-after destinations by the British in 2023 on Google. Greece tops the ranking. It is followed by Spain and Italy. Then come Portugal, Croatia, Cyprus, Thailand and Egypt. Malta takes 9th place. As for the ranking of cities, it is Orlando, an American city, which rises to the first place in the top 8 of the cities most sought after by the British on Google in 2023. Tel Aviv (Israel) is positioned in second place ahead of Seville (Spain). Marrakech takes fourth place. Then come La Rochelle (France), Delhi (India) and Cork (Ireland). Amsterdam (Netherlands) closes the podium. In addition, Rhodes (Greece) and Sicily (Italy) are the islands most popular with the British.
To compile these rankings, Google analyzed the destinations for which search interest increased the most in 2023 compared to 2022, as well as keywords such as "flights to" and "travel to" in the UK, in order to remove non-travel related searches.
Morocco is one of the world’s leading tourist destinations. In 2022, the country welcomed around 11 million visitors. At the end of October, the country recorded more than 12.3 million tourist arrivals compared to 8.8 million arrivals in the same period last year, an increase of 39%, according to data from the Office des Changes. As for the sector’s revenues, they reached 88.4 billion dirhams ($8.7 billion) in the first 10 months of 2023, an increase of 20%.
