Marrakech’s La Mamounia Crowned Among World’s Elite Hotels

It emerges from the 38th edition of the Readers’s Choice organized by the famous American lifestyle magazine, Condé Nast Traveler (CNT), that the legendary hotel in Marrakech, La Mamounia, occupies the 44th place in the ranking of the 50 best hotels in the world for the year 2025. "La Mamounia has a very special effect, which seems to impose itself from the moment one climbs the tiled green steps leading to this great lady of the most bohemian. At the sight of the faded pink walls of La Mamounia, Churchill used to let his suit fall and take up his watercolor brushes; Paul McCartney wrote "Mamounia" (which means "haven of peace" in Arabic) during a stay in 1973," writes the magazine.

CNT reports that Alfred Hitchcock filmed "The Man Who Knew Too Much" in this over 100-year-old establishment. He was inspired by a few too zealous finches on a balcony overlooking the garden for "The Birds". The establishment has luxury rooms and suites with a view of the gardens, as well as private raids. On the catering side, it offers Italian, Asian and French dishes.

The Lodge at Bodega Bay (California) is voted the best hotel in the world by CNT readers. It is followed by the Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad and Hyatt Regency Milwaukee. Then come Thompson Nashville and Shangri-La Bosphorus (Istanbul). The Faena Miami Beach Hotel (49th) and The Joseph, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nashville (50th) close the podium.
