Marrakech Lifts Travel Restrictions, Aims to Revive Tourism Amid Pandemic Recovery

The travel authorization is no longer mandatory in Marrakech. This is the decision of the authorities in order to ease the restrictive measures imposed to fight against the coronavirus.

It will now be easier for the inhabitants of the ochre city to move freely and resume their activities in complete peace of mind. This decision was made during a meeting that brought together the competent authorities of the city.

It also aims to revive tourism in this city with huge tourist potential and which has become a shadow of itself since the health crisis due to the coronavirus. In this perspective, the tourism operators and in particular the Regional Tourism Council of the Marrakech-Safi region had pleaded for the easing of the measures.

The second city most affected by the coronavirus after Casablanca, Marrakech had been locked down at the start of the crisis and the authorities had imposed restrictive measures. To date, the ochre city accounts for 11.13% of active cases, or 18,612 patients infected with the coronavirus.
