Marrakech Launches Reconstruction Plan for Hotels and Medina After Earthquake

An emergency program for the reconstruction of the hotels in Marrakech damaged by the Al Haouz earthquake was at the heart of a meeting of the Regional Steering Committee chaired by Farid Chourak, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region. The project to enhance the medina was also discussed.
The discussions focused on the development and improvement of tourism infrastructure, particularly the modernization of hotels in the medina. The objective is to reconcile modern sustainable development standards and the preservation of cultural heritage. This initiative aims to improve the quality of tourism services and strengthen the city’s attractiveness.
The Wali insisted on the collaboration between the stakeholders for an integrated development of the medina. He requested the formation of specialized committees: one in charge of the rehabilitation of hotels, the other of monitoring the program.
Farid Chourak also recalled the importance of defining the priorities for the execution of the projects to ensure the coordination of the work, insisting on the mobilization of resources to support the projects.
