Marrakech Hotels See Surge in Domestic Tourism During School Holidays

In Marrakech, hotels were full of Moroccan tourists during the school holidays.
There was a large influx of visitors in the hotel units of the city of Marrakech during the school holidays. The hotel units were largely filled during this period, as Moroccan families located in the city or in the periphery, particularly in the Agafay desert region, flocked there in large numbers. This is the observation made by professionals in the sector. School holidays are now a precious opportunity for the hotel sector to welcome domestic tourists and implement entertainment programs without having to wait for the arrival of foreign tourists, professional sources have emphasized.
According to Zoubir Bouhoute, a researcher specialized in the tourism sector, school holidays are often an opportunity to boost domestic tourism, especially for the city of Marrakech, for several reasons. "What makes Marrakech a privileged destination for Moroccan tourists is that it benefits from a significant influx from major cities like Casablanca, Rabat and Agadir, due to the presence of hotel units and clubs offering programs for families," he explained to Hespress. Other attractions of the red city: Moroccan families who go to Marrakech find various programs to organize their day, starting with Jamaa El Fna, the Ménara, the Koutoubia, the museums, the old city and the surroundings, such as the Agafay desert region, Bouhoute added.
