Marrakech Sees Tourism Surge During Ramadan

The Marrakech destination is booming during this Ramadan month, strengthening its position as the "tourist capital" of Morocco.
According to the Secretary General of the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT), Mustapha Amalik, many tourists choose Marrakech as a vacation destination, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, in order to explore its cultural aspects. "Ramadan is an ideal time to innovate through the presentation of a rich and varied tourist product, where hospitality, sharing, solidarity and spirituality coexist," he told La MAP. The ochre city continues to attract thousands of visitors during the holy month of Ramadan. Amalik is convinced that this upswing will continue during the next school holidays.
For the official, Marrakech continues to strengthen its position as the tourist capital of Morocco. "The Marrakech-Safi region as a whole is experiencing sustained tourism dynamics throughout the year," he added. According to Amalik, this momentum is explained by the efforts made by the players in the tourism sector, particularly the various services they offer in order to attract different types of tourism.
Nearly 2.7 million tourists arrived in Morocco at the end of February, according to data from the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism. Marrakech is among the most visited destinations by local and international tourists. The ochre city is also at the top of the rankings of international magazines presenting the destinations of Morocco. In January, TripAdvisor placed Marrakech among the "best travel destinations" for 2025.
