Marrakech Airport Police Inspector Suspended Over Tourist Theft Allegations

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has just announced the suspension of a police inspector stationed at Marrakech-Menara airport following accusations of theft.
"A judicial investigation has been opened by the prefectural service of the judicial police under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to verify the accusations made against the inspector," the statement said.
It added that the tourist claimed that after presenting his passport to the policeman, he noticed the disappearance of banknotes in national and British currency that he said he had stored in the document. The inspector then returned the stolen amount to him after the tourist’s complaints.
Last September, two police officers suspected of having stolen the mobile phone of a traveler at Agadir Al-Massira airport had been arrested.
