Morocco: an official arrested for corruption

The operation took place on the evening of Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The accused was apprehended by the gendarmes at the moment he was receiving a bribe of 10,000 dirhams. According to local sources, this sum was related to the issuance of an authorization to connect to the electricity grid.

The intervention was triggered following a complaint received by the public prosecutor’s office via the toll-free number dedicated to reporting corruption. A coordination was then carried out with the complainant to set up an ambush, which resulted in the arrest of the person concerned in the act of receiving the money.

According to sources on the spot, the defendant had been leading this local authority for three consecutive terms. He was placed in custody on the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office, pending the completion of the investigation to clarify all the circumstances of this case.
