Morocco ready to send its soldiers to secure Gaza?

The Moroccan authorities, through the head of government Aziz Akhannouch, are said to have confirmed the in-depth examination of this military participation. This multinational force would have as its primary purpose to ensure the necessary security for reconstruction operations and to promote the emergence of a new civil administration. This reflection comes as an international coalition is taking shape, following the approval of the UN Security Council for the deployment of a peacekeeping contingent as the central pillar of the conflict resolution process.

The mechanism currently under negotiation provides that Morocco could dispatch specialized units to maintain public order, while the technical modalities of intervention and the rules of engagement are still the subject of discussions. This potential deployment marks the transition to the second phase of the ceasefire process, a sensitive stage of political transition for the region.

This stabilization period notably provides for the creation of a Peace Council and the establishment of a local executive composed of technocrats. This civil government, responsible for the daily management of the population, would benefit from the supervision and security support of the contributing countries to the international force. Morocco would thus position itself as one of the actors in this mechanism aimed at restoring the foundations of a civil administration in the territory.
