Moroccan Diesel Prices Skyrocket to 11 Dirhams, Third Hike in 45 Days

Since this Wednesday, July 16th, the price per liter of diesel, the most sold fuel in Morocco, has increased by 20 cents. This new increase is the third in a month and a half. Between early June and mid-July, the price of diesel has seen a cumulative increase of 73 cents.

In downtown Casablanca, the price of diesel has been set at 11.18 dirhams per liter at Afriquia, Shell and Winxo service stations. At Total, it is sold at 10.98 dirhams, reports Le360. On the other hand, the price of gasoline has remained stable at 12.94 dirhams per liter.

This new surge in the price of diesel comes a few days before the publication, by the Competition Council, of its first report on the net margins of distributors, developed on the basis of the financial results for the 2024 financial year.

In the last quarter of 2024, these margins represent around 15% for diesel and 16% for gasoline. They are shared between the wholesale distribution companies (between 11% and 12%), and the retailers or managers of the service stations (4%) for the two fuels.
