Morocco’s Fuel Prices Plummet: Third Consecutive Drop Brings Relief to Motorists

A pleasant surprise awaits Moroccan motorists at the pump. Fuel prices have shown more or less significant declines since Thursday. In downtown Casablanca, you have to pay 10.69 dirhams for a liter of diesel at Winxo and 10.68 dirhams at Afriquia and Vivo Energy (Shell) stations, reports Le360. As for the price of gasoline, a liter costs 12.69 dirhams at Winxo and 12.68 dirhams at Afriquia and Vivo Energy.

This is the 3rd consecutive decline since August 19, 2025. The price of diesel has seen a modest drop of 10 cents per liter on August 19, and a more or less significant drop of 30 cents on September 1. These declines follow the downward trend in global oil prices. This will temporarily ease the bill for households and transporters. However, professionals expect a possible stabilization in the short term, in a context of uncertainty about international crude oil prices, the same source points out.

From the detailed analysis of the net margins realized by oil distributors published for the first time by the Competition Council at the end of July, the average net margin rate was 3.9% in 2024, or 43 cents per liter of diesel and 61 cents for gasoline. Margins higher than the average recorded over the 2022-2024 period, estimated at only 1% (16 cents for diesel and 31 for gasoline).
