Morocco: Very good news at the pump
Relief at the pump this Tuesday, December 30th. After a series of consecutive increases, fuel prices are seeing a significant drop as of this morning. A notable feature of this price adjustment: the price of diesel plummets to go back below the symbolic threshold of 10 dirhams, a first in several years.
Moroccan motorists can breathe a sigh of relief at the end of the year. Since Tuesday at 12:01 am, the display panels at service stations in the Kingdom have been updated with lower prices. The decline is particularly significant for diesel, the most consumed fuel, which has seen a decrease of 65 cents per liter, reports Le Matin. This correction brings the average price to around 9.95 dirhams, thus breaking the 10-dirham ceiling that weighed on the purchasing power of households and professionals.
The Super Unleaded (SSP) gasoline follows the same trend, although to a lesser extent. The price per liter drops by 44 cents, now settling around 13.05 dirhams according to distributors. This reversal of the trend comes after two successive increases and is explained by a easing of supply costs on international energy markets. It remains to be seen whether this lull will be lasting in an always volatile global economic context.
