Balearia Boosts Ferry Service for Moroccan Summer Travel Rush

In order to cope with the significant influx of Moroccans from Europe who will be joining Morocco for the summer holidays as part of the Marhaba Operation, Balearia has scheduled 15 daily crossings to Moroccan ports, including 12 to Tanger-Med from Algeciras, two to Tanger-Med from Motril and one to Nador from Almeria, reports Infopuertos.

The shipping company will also operate 10 daily crossings between Algeciras and Ceuta, and will maintain its two daily crossings to the port of Melilla, one from Malaga and the other from Motril. In total, Balearia has planned 27 daily rotations as part of the Transit Operation, which will be served by 10 ships (eight ferries and two high-speed vessels), representing nearly a third of its fleet.

Adapted services to the needs of Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) and in particular in Europe will be offered on board the ships destined for the crossings to Morocco. The company provides Arabic and French-speaking assistants on board for Moroccan passengers. MREs will also be able to consume halal food offered in the on-board bars and restaurants and even pray in the dedicated prayer rooms during the journey.

Balearia also has an Arabic telephone service to answer the concerns of MREs, as well as 21 ticket sales points along the routes in Morocco and Spain. Passengers will be able to travel by day ferry with departures from Almería at 9am, 2pm or 3pm depending on the day of the week, or by night ferry available every day.
