Manchester United Urged to Start Eriksen Over Struggling Amrabat in Midfield

A former English international advises Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag to start Christian Eriksen rather than Sofyan Amrabat. He believes the Dane is a "better footballer" than the Moroccan international.
Christian Eriksen outperformed Sofyan Amrabat in the match between Manchester United and Copenhagen in the 3rd round of the Champions League (1-0 in favor of the Red Devils). Entering the game at half-time, the Dane put in a fine performance in Manchester United’s midfield. He combined serenity and creativity and ended up as the man of the match. Amrabat did not show up to the task. He found it difficult to get hold of the ball during a good first half. Scott McTominay dropped back further to play his role when he came off, reports the website Metro.co.uk.
While Paul Scholes acknowledges the Moroccan international’s strengths, he has urged Ten Hag to reintegrate Eriksen into his starting lineup. "In the first half, it felt like we were watching a Europa League game. Like a Thursday night. Poor. The second half was much better, but you have to bring on the best footballers. You bring on Christian Eriksen, a much better footballer. I don’t want to disrespect Amrabat, he’s a stopper, he does what he has to do.
But he won’t build the game. Christian Eriksen will," commented the former English international.
And he added: "You saw the runs that were made, suddenly Fernandes is in the game, Garnacho too. Eriksen will find these players. For 15 to 20 minutes, they looked like a real team. Ten Hag was also pleased with Eriksen’s performance and praised the leadership of the midfielder. Christian is always positive. He brings football and we didn’t have that in the first half. Copenhagen is well organized and you have to break them. Christian Eriksen makes the right passes".
