Manchester United Missed Out on Hakim Ziyech as Chelsea Secures Ajax Star for £40M

Manchester United was also interested in recruiting Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech. Pursuing another goal, the Mancunian leaders ultimately let the Atlas Lion slip away to Chelsea.
The Blues recruited the playmaker from Ajax Amsterdam in February for the tidy sum of 45 million euros. This transfer came after the magnificent run of Ajax and the good performances of the Moroccan winger in the Champions League.
After losing Frenkie De Jong (Barça) and Matthijs De Ligt (Juventus), Ajax Amsterdam convinced Ziyech to stay for another season.
According to Evening Standard, the Norwegian coach of Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, was also negotiating the transfer of Hakim Ziyech to Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, the Manchester United leaders let go of the discussions to pursue the transfer of the English international from Dortmund, Jadon Sancho, estimated at more than 120 million euros.
