Manchester United Eyes Amrabat, but Moroccan Midfielder Favors Barcelona Move
Manchester United has again expressed its interest in Sofyan Amrabat, the Fiorentina midfielder, but the Moroccan player still dreams of joining the FC Barcelona team.
The Catalan club is still awaiting LaLiga’s approval for its financial viability plan, while the club’s sports officials continue to look for a replacement for Sergio Busquets, writes the Spanish media Sport.es. In a recent press conference, Xavi Hernández, the Barça coach, stated that the arrival of Leo Messi and the integration of a defensive pivot are the club’s priority objectives.
Barça has several players in mind to replace Busquets. The choice of the replacement will depend on the economic context in which the club will find itself during the next summer transfer window. Among the candidates are Martín Zubimendi, Joshua Kimmich, Rúben Neves, Guido Rodríguez and, of course, Sofyan Amrabat.
Amrabat had already tried to join Barça during the previous winter transfer window. Despite his efforts, Fiorentina did not facilitate the transaction and the transfer failed. Barça, grappling with Financial Fair Play issues, hoped to bring him in on loan with a purchase option for this summer, a proposal that the Italian team refused.
