Barcelona Eyes Amrabat for Midfield Boost, Faces Financial Hurdle
Sofyan Amrabat is one of Barcelona FC’s priorities as they are looking for a talent to replace Busquets in midfield. But the price of the young Moroccan player remains high for the Catalan club.
Barça is still interested in Sofyan Amrabat, despite the failed transfer last January, during the winter transfer window. The Catalan club will try again this summer to secure the services of the Moroccan midfielder from Fiorentina, who is demanding 30 million euros to let the player go. The Italian club does not accept player exchanges and does not want a contract with a purchase option, conditions that complicate the negotiations with Barça, reports Sport.es.
Barça wants to strengthen its team for next season and thought of signing a pivot like Gundogan, but coach Xavi Hernandez would have preferred a more defensive player like Zubimendi. But unable to recruit the latter, other profiles like that of Amrabat are being studied. But the new sports management of Barça is not ready to spend 30 million euros for a single player, considering that they have better options at this price.
The new sports director Deco explains that they do not give up on recruiting Amrabat, but that they prefer to take their time to negotiate a reasonable price, knowing that the Moroccan midfielder dreams of playing for Barça. But Amrabat is also attracting the interest of several other big clubs like Bayern, Liverpool or Atlético, who could get ahead of Barça in the negotiations.
