Man Sentenced for Intruding into Women’s Hammam in Marrakech

The court of first instance in Marrakech sentenced a man accused of intruding into a women’s hammam in the old medina to four months in prison with probation. The accused had rushed to the aid of his wife who was inside the establishment.
While a dispute broke out between his wife and other women, a man burst into a hammam to come to her aid. Witnesses on the spot recount that this dispute turned into a brawl with hair pulling, punches, etc., reports Al Massae. The accused would have threatened the women who had argued with his companion.
Fearing his arrest, he had been absent from his home for two days. This manifest willingness to evade justice did not last long. The police were able to locate and arrest the accused. He will be placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office. During his interrogation, he admitted the facts he is accused of. However, he denied having used a weapon.
Referred to the public prosecutor’s office on January 20, he will be prosecuted in custody for public indecency, possession of a weapon and threat against a woman. He was then presented the same day before the court for a first hearing which was postponed to January 28. On Friday, the defendant was sentenced to four months in prison with probation.
