Man Arrested for Torching Neighbor’s Car in Bizarre ’Exorcism’ Attempt

The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of Had Soualem arrested a rather surprising suspect. He set fire to his neighbor’s car and justifies his act by a need to exorcise the devil.
In his thirties, the young man was arrested following the complaint filed by the owner of the burned car. She accuses the young man of "a vengeful act, all the more so as he had started by slashing the tires of the vehicle before setting it on fire," reports the daily Assabah.
During the interrogation that followed his arrest, the accused did not deny the facts. He admits that he "was trying to disenchant the car in order to exorcise the devil" that was in it. The statements of the accused, "deemed unconvincing, were not taken seriously by the investigators who decided to place him in custody."
