British Tourist Dies in Luxury Marrakech Hotel Fire, Trapped in Spa

On vacation in Morocco with friends, a British tourist died trapped in a spa after a fire broke out in a luxury hotel in Marrakech.
Black Wednesday at the Jaal Riad Resort hotel, located in the center of Marrakech and a ten-minute drive from Menara airport. On March 22, a fire ravaged the hotel around 4 p.m. and claimed two victims: an employee and a British tourist, reports The Sun. The latter is a man in his forties, father of two children, who was staying at the hotel with friends. Called, the police and paramedics rushed to the scene. They tried in vain to save the British tourist, who succumbed to smoke inhalation.

The hotel reopened after the fire. Its spokesperson confirmed the death of a client, but refused to comment further due to the "ongoing investigation".
