Eight individuals were arrested on Tuesday evening for their alleged links to a criminal network, known in the international drug and psychotropic trafficking. The operation was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the elements of the Judicial Police Brigade of Guelmim and the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
In addition to the eight arrests, the searches carried out as part of this case led to the seizure of 7,504 tons of cannabis resin (chira) in several warehouses in the rural commune of Taghjijt and on board an all-terrain vehicle, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). It should also be noted the seizure of 4 vehicles, a motorcycle, two hunting rifles, 108 cartridges and a sum of money suspected of being the proceeds of these criminal acts.
The suspects were placed in custody for the investigation, opened with a view to determining responsibilities, finding all the ramifications of this case, and especially detecting any accomplices involved.
