Madrid Hotel’s Rating Plummets After Staff’s Racist Comments Against Moroccan Soccer Team

The Eurostars Madrid Tower hotel has seen its rating on Google drop from 4.5 to 2.9 stars after its staff posted racist and Islamophobic comments on social media against the Moroccan national football team. According to the site, most of the 1,722 reviews the establishment has received on Google since Monday afternoon are one-star reviews.

"Unprofessional staff who do not respect their customers and not only complain about serving them, but also take photos of them inside the hotel without their knowledge. To be avoided at all costs," reads one of the reviews. "Unprofessional staff. Don’t spend your money in places like this, they don’t even respect their customers and violate their privacy," reads another.

On Monday, photos showing several members of the Moroccan team in the hotel restaurant, accompanied by racist and Islamophobic remarks, were posted on Instagram. "We serve them the Ramadan shit. Their fucking beliefs," wrote one of the Eurostars Madrid Tower employees in a first story complaining about staying up at night to be available to the players who are observing the Ramadan fast. "Fucking Moors of shit, I don’t give a damn about Ramadan and their fucking dead!" he added.
