Macron Warns Against Conflating Immigration and Radicalization in France
Thursday 17 October 2019, by
Emmanuel Macron, who has refrained from making a public statement on the heated debates that stigmatize Muslims in France, could no longer hold back. The French President, who did not plan a public speech on the issue, according to Saphirnews, was forced to sound the alarm.
France Info in particular collected information from the Elysée last Wednesday, according to which the President warned against "the amalgamation between the issues of immigration, radicalization, communitarianism and secularism".
The French President drew his compatriots’ attention to the risks to which the Republic is exposed. Thus, according to him, the French would do well to avoid "stigmatization" to avoid a "civil war" that seems to be looming on the horizon. On this, the French President notably indicated that "a yellow line has already been crossed by certain opposition leaders".
Before Macron, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe also expressed his concern about the situation that has escalated in recent days, notifying the National Assembly of his refusal of a law banning religious symbols for school chaperones, reports the same source.
