Algerian Man Arrested for Threats Against Moroccan Diplomat in Marseille

Police arrested an Algerian illegal immigrant who threatened to kill the Moroccan vice-consul in Marseille and bit a security guard.

A 30-year-old Algerian illegal immigrant threatened to kill the Moroccan vice-consul at the consulate in Marseille and bit a security guard in the face, according to police information obtained by Valeurs actuelles. Alerted to the incident in the middle of the afternoon, the police arrived on the scene around 2:50 PM, but the suspect had already left the premises.
The vice-consul told officers that the individual had warned he would return with an explosive device to the diplomatic building. The security guard, who was slightly bitten in the face, filed a complaint. Subsequently, the police managed to identify and arrest the suspect at his home around 5:30 PM. Already known to the Criminal Records Processing system (TAJ), this Algerian illegal immigrant "has been in an irregular situation on French soil since April 2," it was specified.
