Macron’s Morocco Visit in Limbo: Diplomatic Sources Report No Concrete Plans

Uncertainties hang over the visit of the President of the French Republic to Morocco. While rumors suggest his arrival on April 26, diplomatic sources say there is "nothing concrete for the moment."
"Nothing has been agreed in this sense with the French Republic and we have no visibility whatsoever regarding a possible visit by President Macron," several diplomatic and political sources in Rabat tell Maghreb-Intelligence. A source close to the Moroccan business community adds: "It is not decided at the last minute and we have nothing concrete for the moment."
In December, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colona had visited Morocco to prepare the official visit of the French president, which had been postponed several times due to the tense situation between Morocco and France. This visit, which was to take place at the beginning of 2023, could suffer the same fate. Relations between Rabat and Paris have deteriorated in recent weeks following the adoption by MEPs of a resolution noting the deterioration of human rights in Morocco. France would be behind this maneuver.
