Macron’s Morocco Visit Set for Early 2023, Says French Ambassador

After a postponement, the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Morocco will indeed take place during the first quarter of 2023. This is at least what Christophe Lecourtier, the new French ambassador to Morocco, affirms.
"This visit is the subject of a lot of preparatory work on both sides, in order to rebuild the exceptional partnership that exists between France and Morocco," explains the French diplomat in an interview with Arab News, thus assuring that its postponement is in no way linked to the tensions between the two countries. He also assured that this visit will indeed take place, without however communicating a date.
Christophe Lecourtier is convinced that when this visit "takes place", it "must allow us to lay down with Morocco a certain number of important milestones to demonstrate this exceptional character between the two countries and which will continue in the next ten, twenty years. The term exception means what it means. There are therefore requirements on both sides."
And he adds: "We have built, since the independence of Morocco, a very interesting relationship but today we are in another century, there are other challenges for Morocco. France has also changed and it is therefore quite logical, and even necessary, to revisit our partnership".
