Liverpool Eyes Sofyan Amrabat as Potential Fabinho Replacement Amid Transfer Speculation

Liverpool is seriously considering the possibility of recruiting Sofyan Amrabat, currently on Manchester United’s radar. The recruitment could accelerate if Fabinho leaves for Al Ittihad for a sum close to 40 million pounds.
The Anfield team is looking to fill the void left by Fabinho, and considers Amrabat, alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Kalvin Phillips, as a very good option, according to The Athletic. Romeo Lavia of Southampton is considered beyond their means, while Moises Caicedo, the star of Brighton & Hove Albion, seems already promised to Chelsea. Consequently, United could see Amrabat slip away in favor of Liverpool.
With an excellent 2022/23 season with his club and the Moroccan national team, Sofyan Amrabat seems to represent good added value. He has indeed achieved more than 90% of his passes and shone in important duels as a defensive midfielder. Manchester United is said to be in "pole position" to acquire the 26-year-old player, but it remains to be seen whether the club has the financial capacity to recruit him.
The Red Devils have already invested 55 million pounds in Mason Mount, and are about to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan for 43 million pounds plus bonuses. The maneuver could then propel Liverpool to the top of the list for the signing of Amrabat, valued at 26 million pounds. It will be interesting to see if Erik ten Hag, who oversaw Amrabat’s professional debut at Utrecht, could play a decisive role in these negotiations.
