Kenitra Notary Faces Trial for Alleged $400,000 Fraud and Embezzlement

A famous notary practicing in Kenitra is accused of fraud by the municipality as well as two banking institutions. His trial will open on September 16 before the criminal chamber of the Rabat Court of Appeal, in charge of financial crimes.
The accused is charged with fraud, embezzlement of public funds and breach of trust. The urban municipality of Kenitra accuses him "of having taken possession of the sum of 4 million dirhams after ensuring the transaction of a plot of land that the territorial community had ceded to a company," reports Assabah.
Before the outbreak of this affair, the famous notary was the subject of two complaints for the same reasons, one filed by a banking institution based in Rabat, accusing him "of having embezzled a sum of twenty million dirhams", and the other emanating from a banking institution in Casablanca reproaching him "for dysfunctions in mortgages having caused embezzlements," specifies the daily.
These institutions ended up filing a complaint after "all attempts at amicable settlement with this notary, defended by great lawyers of the place, failed," it is pointed out. The National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) opened an investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to shed light on this case.
About ten people have already been heard by the investigators in this case. In total, eight alleged victims have joined as civil parties. The trial of the famous notary begins on September 16.
