The Spanish maritime rescue teams have rescued two migrants from the Maghreb. They were trying to reach the Spanish coast by kayak in the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar.
The call received at 6:20 a.m., reporting the presence of a boat in the Strait, was the trigger for the rescue operation, the EFE agency indicates.
Subsequently, an emergency system was put in place. The Spanish rescue ship Salvamar Atria and an Italian border police patrol vessel participated in the operation.
It proved successful. The Spanish maritime rescue services finally located the boat, a kayak on board which were the two Maghreb migrants, details the same source.
