Jellyfish Invasion Threatens Moroccan Summer: Beaches on High Alert

Several beaches in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region have recorded a strong presence of jellyfish in recent days, which has caused concern among summer vacationers.
The phenomenon has been particularly visible on certain beaches in the Al Hoceima region, where a high concentration of these marine animals has been observed. Jellyfish invade the Moroccan coasts every summer, causing concern among bathers, especially since jellyfish stings can lead to dermatological complications, especially if they are venomous species.
The health authorities recommend going immediately to a health center in case of persistent symptoms or allergic reactions. So far, no cases of stings have been reported on the beaches of Al Hoceima. However, experts fear that this proliferation of jellyfish may extend to the coasts of Tanger and Tétouan in the coming days, putting summer vacationers on alert.
The arrival of jellyfish on the Moroccan coasts coincides with the beginning of the high summer season, when a massive influx of visitors is expected on the beaches of the northern kingdom. Local authorities are urging visitors to be cautious, advising bathers to pay attention to the signage on the beaches, follow safety instructions during swimming, and avoid any direct contact with jellyfish.
