Israeli Minister Amir Peretz Delivers Peace Message to Morocco in Darija
Amir Peretz, the Israeli Minister of Economy born in Bejaâd, addressed a message of peace (in darija) to Morocco and the Moroccan people after the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"Assalamou Aleykoum. I am Amir Amon Peretz, a minister in the Israeli government. I am very happy for the diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel," he said in a message broadcast on YouTube.
"The country where I was born and where my family is from, my roots and my culture, have fully restored diplomatic relations with the country that is my homeland, the place where I fight to have a place of peace and solidarity," he also wrote on his Facebook page, accompanying the text with a photo of him with King Mohammed VI.
Mr. Peretz is one of the ten ministers of Moroccan origin in Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. He has a close connection with Morocco and is very proud to be Moroccan.
