Morocco and Israel Set to Sign Trade Deal, Boosting Economic Ties

Morocco and Israel want to strengthen their economic partnership. An agreement in this sense between the two countries should be signed in about two weeks.

The framework of cooperation between the two countries should be signed very soon, according to the Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry, Amir Peretz, according to whom the two countries want to increase their bilateral trade and remove trade barriers.

According to the terms of the agreement, cooperation in the areas of standards, regulations, research and development, innovation, or agro-technology is also planned.

It provides for the participation of the two parties in economic exhibitions and conferences organized both in Morocco and in Israel. Exchanges of business visits and study trips are also planned.

For the time being, no agreement has yet been concluded while negotiations are continuing to achieve this. On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Trade, Industry and Green and Digital Economy, exchanged by videoconference with Amir Peretz, Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry. During these exchanges, the two officials discussed the prospects for industrial cooperation between the two countries. More recently, Amir Peretz expressed his willingness to conclude a Free Trade Agreement with Morocco.
