Israeli Defense Firm Elbit Systems to Open Two Drone Factories in Morocco

The Israeli company Elbit Systems, a leader in the manufacture of defense systems, plans to open two factories in Morocco soon, announced Shai Cohen, head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat.
In a statement to the press, Cohen said that the two factories, one of which will be based in Casablanca, will produce "defense systems". This announcement follows the agreement signed last year by Rabat and Tel Aviv for the establishment in Morocco of two Israeli factories specializing in the manufacture of military drones.
It is also part of the ongoing dynamic of strengthening military cooperation between the two countries, engaged since the normalization of their relations in December 2020 within the framework of the Abraham Accords under the aegis of the United States. Twelve soldiers and officers from the elite Golani unit of the Israeli army are participating for the first time in African Lion 2023, the military exercises co-organized by Morocco and the United States, which are taking place in the kingdom until June 19.
Last Thursday, the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, Amir Ohana, was also on a visit to Morocco, where he met the President of the Moroccan Parliament, Rachid Talbi Alami. The Israeli official stressed on this occasion the importance of the political and security cooperation between Rabat and Tel Aviv.
