Israel Seeks Moroccan Workers for Health and Construction Sectors

During a visit to Rabat on Friday, the Israeli Minister of the Interior and Health, Moshe Arbel, met with his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit. On the agenda of their discussions, several issues including the sending of Moroccan workers to Israel in the health and construction sectors.
The two officials discussed, among other things, the issue of facilitating visa issuance in both directions, with Morocco planning the arrival of 200,000 Israeli tourists this year, reports The Jerusalem Post. "This meeting is part of the strengthening of relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Israel, which have recorded significant progress since the signing in December 2020 of the Tripartite Declaration (Morocco-USA-Israel)," the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior said in a statement.
Laftit and Arbel also exchanged on issues "falling within the remit and areas of competence of their respective departments", the same note points out, adding that "bilateral issues of common interest" and "the means to strengthen cooperation between the two countries" were examined by the two officials.
Several Israeli officials have already made official visits to Morocco since the normalization of diplomatic relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv in December 2020. At the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, the President of the Knesset (Israeli parliament), Amir Ohana, was in Rabat on June 6. "The Sahara is Moroccan...", he declared, announcing an upcoming recognition by Israel of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
