Israeli Airline El Al Seeks Approval for New Routes to Morocco

Subject to the approval of the Moroccan civil aviation authorities, the Israeli airline El Al plans to open, in the next few days, seven routes to Morocco.
The Israeli airline has submitted a request to the Moroccan authorities to initially benefit from three weekly flights between Tel Aviv and Casablanca, El Al officials told Maghreb intelligence. According to the company’s forecasts, four other flights will quickly follow. El Al also expresses interest in opening a line between Ben Gurion Airport and Marrakech-Menara Airport.
El Al’s first flight had landed in Morocco on December 22, 2020 following the restoration of diplomatic relations between the kingdom and the Hebrew state. The Israeli airline sees this as a boon to boost tourism between the two countries. 50,000 Israelis visit Morocco each year.
