Investors Seek Royal Intervention in Marrakech Cultural Project Fraud Case

Initiators of a project called "Marrakech, African Cultural Capital 2020", Eliza Boumah and her husband, Philippe Brun, say they are victims of a scam orchestrated by a real estate agency and a police officer. In an open letter addressed to King Mohammed VI, the couple of investors expose the facts and call on the sovereign for help.

"Making Marrakech the African cultural capital in 2020 is a concept that we have embraced. Making Marrakech the showcase of the Africa that you defend was my greatest goal for several months," writes Eliza Boumah Brun. In this sense, she and her husband created African House.

According to this passionate about Morocco, the African House project aims to bring together talents from sub-Saharan Africa to put them at the service of the kingdom, with a view to complete integration. However, this project will not see the light of day due to "a scam orchestrated by a real estate agency and a police officer". Eliza Boumah Brun claims that the police officer used his powers to evict them, after having morally and financially dispossessed them.

"How do unlisted houses end up on the commercial market? How do these constructions come about without the municipality reacting?" wonder this couple of investors. They also denounce the nonchalance in the handling of the case at the level of justice, which has already been introduced to the prosecutor of the king. The couple, in fact, fear impunity.

Desperate, Eliza Boumah and her husband implore the intervention and impartiality of King Mohammed VI. "African House begs you, in your capacity as Head of State and guarantor of respect for international conventions, to take a look at ’Marrakech, African Cultural Capital 2020’ and to correct certain injustices that distort the quality of Morocco’s cultural openness," they conclude.
